Natural stone retaining wall

Looking at this high retaining wall I was taken by the flow of stones from left to right, and the stones slowly getting smaller from the bottom to the top. Then the three hanging loose strands of ivy – hedera helix, being unable to find a purchase. However, not giving up the fourth strand of ivy found a drainage pipe with water wear below to establish itself. 14/09/23 Fujifilm X-T3 18-55 mm lens with 1/8 black mist filter.
